Examples of accompaniment rhythms
On this page you can see and hear examples of all the rhythms of accompaniment found in the music
of Dear Old Illinois. The contents of this page are in accord with the accompaniment rhythms chart
in the book. Little needs to be said here, as detailed text support is given in the book.
Songs
Unlike the fiddle tunes of Dear Old Illinois, the songs are not categorized into
rhythm-governing types. So, the songs employ a wider variety of accompaniment patterns than do the fiddle tunes.

Fiddle tunes
Aside from the very few examples in the "other tunes" category, the fiddle tunes of Dear Old
Illinois are less variable in their
accompaniment patterns than the songs. This is because the fiddle tunes are categorized according to which
type of dance each accommodates, which means that they are categorized by rhythm. The accompaniment patterns
are consistent within each category, and there are only a few of them.
